Differentiation Must Be Applied To Your Business

The 20-70-10 principal of differentiation whereby the top 20% are rewarded and promoted, the middle 70% work towards the top 20% and the bottom 10% are cut is a vital part of a successful business. It's no coincidence that the teams with the best players win. The goal of getting the best players on your team must always be one of your paramount goals to ensure the longevity of your business. Just as with any team, the worst players are cut and frequently replaced with better players. This idea may seem cruel, however from the moment we enter grade school, we are differentiated by our report cards. Those grades further differentiate us when we attend college, grad school and attempt to secure a job.

Differentiation motivates those that are capable of working in your office environment. Remember, not everyone is fit for every position. A successful marketing executive may not be a deserving Chief Financial Officer and differentiation is essential to get the right people in the right place. For a successful business, implement differentiation.
