Hillary Clinton already has an enormous amount of momentum leading up to this presidential election and when she announces her husband and former President Bill Clinton as her running mate she will win by a landslide. Bill's abilities at persuasion and political posturing are legendary and his appeal remains exceptional. Also, Bill can run as her Vice Presidential nominee and here's why:
The 12th amendment to the United States Constitution explicitly states that anybody who is eligible for the US presidency under Article II of the Constitution (age 35 or older, natural born citizen) is eligible for the vice presidency. Bill Clinton is over the age of 35 and is a natural born citizen, therefore he qualifies. A potential road block to Bill Clinton as the vice president could be the 22nd Amendment, however this amendment does not apply. The 22nd amendment is specifically designed to prevent another multi-term presidency similar to FDR's. The 22nd amendment only prohibits the election of a United States President to more than two terms in the specific office of the president. The 22nd amendment does not prevent a two term president from running for the vice presidency.
Many will state that there is too much baggage from the past to prevent this from happening. To those who think that effective politics consists of personal destruction, simply look at the past and you will see how many times that this approach has backfired. Look at the approval ratings of Hillary and Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton has been an exceptionally beneficial asset to Hillary at this stage of her campaign and signing on as the VEEP will close the deal.
Hillary Clinton will assume the White House in 2008 with Bill Clinton as her vice president. Bill is and will remain a tremendous benefit to Hillary Clinton and there are no constitutional or administrative roadblocks in their way.
