The American Presidency is the most honored and revered political office in the world. Great Generals, Attorneys and even Actors have had the honor of being referred as the Chief Executive of the United States of America. The following list contains the best United States Presidents of all time. My determination and analysis was objective as I thoroughly reviewed each President’s historical influence and actions while in office.
"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts." - Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln, was elected as the 16th President and nearly single handedly saved the Union during the American Civil War. Lincoln's leadership during the Civil War was one of stern direction and no compromise however at the same time Lincoln clearly understood that he would have the task of Uniting the States once the North won the war. Lincoln's actions and vision kept the union together and eventually led to the abolition of slavery in the United States.
"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself." - FDR
FDR was elected as the 32nd President and is the only President to serve four terms as President. Throughout his four terms in office, FDR had an enormous impact on America. Roosevelt worked tirelessly to end the Great Depression, including the creation and establishment of the New Deal implemented to assist America's return to international prominence.
"The nation which indulges towards another a habitual hatred, or an habitual fondness, is in some degree a slave. It is a slave to its animosity or to its affection, either of which is sufficient to lead it astray from its duty and its interest." - Washington
Washington served as our first President and because of such set forth many important precedents and actions that were later followed by his predecessors. His insistence on not to become a "monarch" was pivotal for American politics. This two term precedent was only eclipsed when FDR served four terms. The 22nd amendment has made certain that no Presiednet will ever serve more than two terms.
"I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that his justice cannot sleep forever. . . the Almighty has no attribute that can take side with us in such a contest." - Jefferson
Thomas Jefferson, was elected as the third President of America and his decision to execute the Louisiana Purchase, nearly doubled the United States size overnight. Jefferson was known to be a strong state's rights activist who realized the need for consolidating power in the federal government when necessary.
"No Man is justified in doing evil on the grounds of expedience." - Roosevelt"
Teddy made an enormous impact on America being known as the "Trust Buster" when he vigilantly conquered corrupt businesses. An avid outdoorsman, Teddy was deeply committed to conservation of American wildlife. Teddy established numerous national parks for preservation purposes and halted the rapid expansion of industrialization of his time.
"It is to be regretted that the rich and powerful too often bend the acts of government to their selfish purposes." - Jackson
Jackson's election showcased the rise of the common man to the office of the president. Jackson was a man of humble beginnings and with his rise he became the epitome of the American dream. His fame and popularity was enormous. Jackson's actions as a strong nationalist are evidenced by his controversial decisions to move the Native Americans during the Trail of Tears east of the Mississippi and his strong fight against the national bank.
"The history of liberty is a history of the limitations of governmental power, not the increase of it." - Wilson
Wilson was at the helm of control when America was brought into the national stage. Wilson's decision to enter World War I and away from isolationism were seen by many as violating Washington's tenant of avoiding foreign entanglements. However this was unlike any war that Washington had experienced and Wilson's hope of bringing the US into the League of Nations, later the United Nations was realized.
"When even one American - who has done nothing wrong -- is forced by fear to shut his mind and close his mouth, then all of Americans are in peril." - Truman
Truman, was elected as the 33rd President and Truman entered into office during one of the most difficult times in American history. Truman made the decision to drop the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Truman then organized the end of World War II and established firm precedents for the beginning of the Cold War.
"No president who performs his duties faithfully and conscientiously can have any leisure." - Polk
With the exception of Jefferson, no other President has increased the size of the United States more than Polk. Polk arranged for the acquisition of New Mexico and California through the Mexican American War. Polk also claimed Oregon Territory after a new treaty with England. Polk stands for and embodies the U.S. notion of manifest destiny. Polk was also an extremely effective leader during the Mexican American War. Many historians consistently refer to him as the best one term president.
"Every gun that is made, every warship that is launched, every rocket fired signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed" - Eisenhower
Eisenhower's time in office was full of American prosperity and great economic gain. Eisenhower also provided key leadership used during the Cold War.
"And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country." - Kennedy
"I did not have sexual relations with that woman." - Clinton
Who do you believe are the Best President's of All Time? Did I miss any?

Ronald Reagan should
Ronald Reagan should definetly be number one.
top ten presidents
Why do you feel Reagan should be #1. There have to be reasons. I feel he was bad due to his terrible record on labor. He took away many rights labor needs to be able to negotiate with business. For exampel, Duty to Bargain.
You guys all suck because
You guys all suck because you are human. And humans are stupid. That goes with your human presidents. On a lighter note, in aggreement with some of your stupid human counter parts, we would say that Bush-head would look by far more stupid than the word stupid can be described in correlation for you stupid human race. Our evidence=his stupid picture and stupid expression on his rooster face. He in fact makes everyone look like a genuis, high level being, beyond you stupid humans. And that is hard to do.
Worst presidents
You could put G.W. Bush in the top 3 there for sure. The most selfish president in history. Pushed a war that was unjust in which I fought in on 2 deployments, again, I didn't choose my war, I joined as a patriot for defending my country. However, sadly, I knew before I ever shipped out that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, I believe we should have sent more forces to afghanistan than Iraq...Who is Bush going to serve The People of The U.S. where his pay check is only 6 digits, or businessmen in the oil business that he makes 7+ figures...his right hand man has his hand in Haliburton who run KBR operations in iraq, kuwait, afghanistan, etc. Corrupt sick fuck, It is sad to see that the best Republican candidate in the last 16 years is gonna be hard to make office (McCain).
What a joke this last 8 years of politics has been. If I believed in Christianity strongly, I would say that Bush is a political anti christ...great job....Dick (Cheney) + (George) Bush = America getting Fucked.
reply
Your completely wrong, Bush and Cheney haven't done a bad job and although Iraq wasnt directly responsible for 9/11 it still had a hand in it. Sadam Husein aloud terorists to move through his countr,y also he kept a blind eye to the terrorist cells in his country and even gave money to al kaeda. Bush has done something that no other president has done before. He has taken a stand against terrorists in both afghanistan and iraq and has delivered them a hard blow. They have far less money and supplies and people then they had before and are less organized, especially in Iraq. Baghdad for example is almost completely rid of all al kaeda forces. So keep this is mind every time you have a sick thought that Bush just enjoys sending his own troops into danger and that he doesnt care about each and every one of them. Remember those men and women including myself one day, volunteered to go and fight no one made them.
also...you said you joined
also...you said you joined to defend your country. Wow! What a badass! Soldiers dont get to choose the wars they fight in. They choose to be in the army to fight in 'potential' wars. So pretty much...you are opposite than you thought. You are the most selfish soldier ever. What if a major city gets bombed again? Are you gunna say that it is 'unjust' and not fight? Hell no! It is your job (that you signed up for) to defend our country; no matter what the situation is. It isn't your job to 'justify' the war. It is your 'job'/ 'duty' to do your fucking job you faggot. Soldiers should just do....they dont wait for logic and wait for time to overlook situations. By that time it's too late. We are the country we are because of the way we have delt with wars and the fact that we have had wars.
"It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag,
and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag."
-Charles M. Province
It is because of soldiers that you can even write things like this.... what a great soldier! You're just a fake. Just like thousands of americans 'acting' like they know what their talking about..when in reality, they barely made it out of highschool so they joined the army (and then we (tax payers) pay for their college experience after the army experience is over) you should kiss Goerge W supporters feet for your futre benefits. You are lucky to be in a country like this.
People who say stuff like
People who say stuff like this..... are pretty much just un-educated fucks that are bored and pissed that they didnt do anything with their life and had to join the army. what would you do besides fight in a war?? dig ditches with our tax money?? u contradictory fuck....ur an anti christ because you are so stupid. Spend your time worth while....and maybe you would have something worth fighting for. Un-american faggot hippie
"Pushed a war that was
"Pushed a war that was unjust in which I fought in on 2 deployments"
I respect your service my man but you have no right to say that it was unjust. Saddam violated the peace treaty of the 1st gulf war 17 times, harbored terrorists (including Osama Bin Laden), trained terrorists in Iraq (which is why we found terrorist training camps in Iraq), and had helped Al Qaeda in the past. Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11, but he was willing to help out Al Qaeda which is why they had a safe haven in northeastern Iraq. All those facts were on the table before we went in. Saddam didn't cooperate with the UN inspectors who were trying to find out if he had WMDs. I don't know what you call "unjust" but that to me doesn't seem unjust. And you have no proof that he's in the pocket of Haliburton. Show me where they paid him money.
And this list is bullshit, they put Wilson out there. The man was a fascist and they left Reagan out and Washington is ahead of FDR.
Thank You! At least there
Thank You! At least there are some people in this world are aren't here just to complain and are actually proud of their country, and respect it's leaders.
My Top 5
1. Ronald Reagan
2. Theodore Roosevelt
3. Abraham Lincoln
4. Dwight Eisenhower
5. George Washington
>>Please not that JFK is NOT there. He is not even in my top ten. He really didn't achieve a hell of a lot, and he just won based on his popularity..which didn't have much to do with his policies.
Lyndon B. Johnson
I believe Lyndon B. Johnson should be on the list as one of the greatest US Presidents. During his presidency, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed. Additionally, other Acts to benefit "we the people" of the United States (Voting Rights Act, Social Security Act, Fair Housing Act, etc.) were passed. Based on the legislation he signed into law, he made people his priority.
Top Presidents
I agree!
Lyndon Johnson was one of my 2 favorite Presidents.
Jimmy Carter was the other one.
Both of them tried to do good things to better America
Made people his priority?
Look at the conflict in Vietnam...ask over 50,000 families how he helped them. Yea, he passed some great policies, but he pressed the Vietnam war and continued sending troops into an unpopular war and a war we did not belong in...then the troops came home to Unappreciative citizens who spit on the soldiers as they come off the planes (not literally to my knowledge, but you get the idea) calling them baby killers and this and that. Yet, they (citizens) don't realize that we, as soldiers, do not choose the wars we fight, we do what is ordered and asked of us by our leaders. Vietnam vets are the most under appreciated soldiers in the history of our country. It is a sad thing.
LBJ should have been a blowjob.
When we started getting wrong
according to me, our bad time started from ronald reagan's era. From the Afghanistan war. When Mikhail Gorwacho was ready to bring his troop back, Ronald administration deny that and keep helping afghani fighter. at that time they were using US and after that got independent they start war againts west, which is more stressed on USA.If Ronald has been agreed with Russian president, we could have stop merging this muslim extremist. after that war Laden and Zaveri came together. they settle there and start making strategies.
I Think supporting them(Afghan people) was biggest mistake of USA. And then this stuppid BUSH came in to the power. I cant understand how can we re-elect this kind of ideot n stupid president. from past 7 years we have washed our internation image. Nobody is looking at us. Infact other country r growing and we are going in depth. GOD HELP US.
Thanks
You have no argument
First of all, learn to spell out your worlds correctly. To the point, how is "Nobody is looking at us"? We are the greatest country in the world, and i know how you think Bush is an "ideot" but what has he done? Imposed war? Well what would have happened if he hadn't? There were safe havens in Northern Iraq where Al-Qaeda was kept. Thousands of insurgents have been taken care of, and i think that we have done a pretty good job. The cost is a down side, but its 2008, we have the most advanced weapons of all time now, we are going to need to get down into our pockets to keep us safe.

If you can't spell (it's
If you can't spell (it's idiot, not ideot) you have no right commenting on anything American, let alone politics that are so far over your head. There are so many things going on that are so over my head and especially your uneducated foreign ass so shut the hell up.
Half
Half of this list doesn't deserve top 25 recognition. Eisenhower? Wilson? Truman? Jackson? That sounds like a list of presidents that should have theirs erased!
Jackson burdened the country with stupendous idiocy in a rampant wave of populism. We now elect dog catchers. Great. He also killed a bunch of Cherokee. Nice. And, did nothing about slavery. Might be the best ever.
Truman dropped a bomb or two and went to war with Korea. Kudos to him.
Wilson's vision of foreign policy placed us in stark contrast with common sense. 14 points. Big whoop. Being a leader is implementation.
Eisenhower played golf. That is it. Come to think of it, that is probably the best thing any president can do. Nothing. Nevermind.
true dat sister
true dat sister girl............
What makes a good president?
Are we basing these ranks on a President's endeavour to increase the prosperity of America or the world? A just president is not a selfish president.
Washington was followed by his predecessors?
You indicate that as our first President, Washington "set forth many important precedents and actions that were later followed by his predecessors."
How can you be followed by those who came before you? I think you meant to say "followed by his successors."
Lincoln
if it wasnt for lincoln the country wolud have been split in half he did what he needed to do to keep the country united
How about John Adams he was
How about John Adams he was an important person in what we call theD O I!

Favorite President
I believe that Abraham Lincoln was our best president. He led us out of the direction of Slavery. He was a strong powerful leader. He is one of my favorite presidents.
1. Abraham Lincoln
2. John F kenndedy
3.Jame Madison
4.Geroge Washington
5.Thomas Jefferson
presidents
I have read and studied American History and in my opinion Harry Truman should have been higher up in the rankings. With the exception of Lincoln, Washington and Roosevelt, no one entered the office facing more crises than Truman. The decision to use the Atomic Bomb was one of the most critical events in history. The breaking of the Berlin blockade was a vital step in showing the Soviet Union that we were not going to capitulate and break down. His initiation of the Marshall Plan was instrumental in aiding Europe so they could rebuild and prosper. His recognizing of Israels rights as a nation had such great foresight. Without Israel as a nation, there would be a great imbalance in the Middle East. His handling of the Unions and not buckling under their mob controlled pressure, saved the nation from soaring labor costs which in turn controlled the prices of products. Truman deserves better
James Madison
You are bad at spelling, what kind of name is Jame Madison?
On the top 5 too?
if you think george bush is
if you think george bush is one of the best president's of all time you are completely right......
sike you would have to out of your damn mind
we are in a huge economic decline that as it seems right now is impossible to get out of and it happens under george bush
so all you extreme right sided nationalists can keep on thinking that but guaranteed he will go down as one of the worst!!!!1
YOU GO DUDE!
BUSH IS THE WORST YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bush Presidency
Dear Anonymous:
Although I could not say that George Bush is in the top 10 of presidents, I will say that he has shown a strength and commitment to defend this country when so many are too fearful to stand strong for this country, AND the American people. 911 showed us what complacency can do to Americans. George Bush stood strong against those who wish to harm this country. As a result there has not been a successful attack against the United States for 7 plus years. It is amazing to me that protecting men, women and children from another 911 has no relevance to so many. The fact that so many are so quick to point to the state of our economy today, verse the security we have experienced, and blame this administration for what has "CHANGED” since our democratic congress has been in office, and yet those same people fail to acknowledge the fact that no American civilians have died from a terrorist attack since 911, speaks volumes to me about the focus of this country, and the direction that focus could take us. Where is the appreciation for how the president and our brave military men and women have committed themselves to protecting the American people? Where is the willingness to acknowledge the economic growth, the record low unemployment, and the booming real estate market we had up until the democratic congress, (committed to change), took over.
Well here is the "change", yet no one wants to take credit for it now. They do however want us to ignore the growth from 2000 to 2006, and blame this administration for all that has gone wrong since.
People can ignore the facts, but people can not change them, and history will keep the record straight. Is George Bush one of the top 10 presidents, I can not say. Is he worthy of the hatred and bashing that so many are guilty of, I think not. It may however take another horrific act against Americans, as a result of the complacency of another democratic administration and congress, for people to gain perspective, and appreciation for what George W has done for this country.
REMEMBER THE REAL WORLD BUSH FANS?????????
Forget, Katrina? Bush ignored it. So did Cheney. People died. If you can blame anyone, it's Bush (LOSER!)
He started this war, and put the US in the worst of times. BUSH FANS, GET REAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Has he beleied in global warming? Not until recently. Now, Repbulicans think its fake.
Has he really cared?
NOT REALLY!
GLOBAL WARMING IS REAL! THERE IS EVERY BIT OF EVIDENCE TO PROOVE IT TOO!
BUSH IS #43. AKA, the WORST PRESIDENT EVER! Killing troops, having people die, ignoring a flood (#4 ranking too!), denying global warming, HE STINKS!
I am an Independant.
My List of the Best presidents:
1. Lincoln-stopped slavery, saved us from racism
2. FDR-saved us in World War II and the Depression
3. Harry S. Truman-finished World War II the only way he could
4. JFK-worked hard in Vietnam, a great, strong man
5. Theodore Rooosevelt- loved nature, a strong, smart leader
RFK should have been president
Bill Clinton was good too
Worst Presidents:
1. George W. Bush-wrecked the time, ignored a flood, avoided global warming, even more
2. Herbert (pervert) Hoover- terrible in the Depression
3. James Buchanan-dumb, couldn't decide about what to do about the uprising Confederate States
4. Richard Nixon-spyed, should have lost to RFK, cheater
5. Warren Harding-did lleagal things, didn't keep his duties as president, very bad
6. Franklin Peirce wasn't great, but not everyone was
Wow, open your eyes a little
Wow, open your eyes a little bit on the Nixon Factor. He was the first president to go to China, and is the reason for a lot of our economic prosperity. You think someone like JFK should be best president, and yet you are calling Richard Nixon a crook, wow, do you need a history lesson.
WHATTTTTT?????
HOW DID LINCOLN STOP RACISM. IT IS STILL ALIVE TODAY. HE KEPT THE UNION TOGETHER AND THAT WAS HIS PRIMARY PURPOSE. JOHN KENNEDY DID WHAT? I LIVED THROUGH HIS SHORT TIME AND DONT REMEMBER MUCH ABOUT WHAT HE DID OTHER THAN BEING A KENNEDY. KATRINA WAS NOT BUSH'S FAULT. HE CAN'T CONTROL THE WEATHER. HE COULD NOT GO INTO NEW ORLEANS UNTIL THE GOVERNOR ASKED FOR HELP AND SHE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. I LIVE DOWN THERE. THOSE PEOPLE SIT AND WAITED FOR DADDY GOVERNMENT TO TELL THEM WHAT TO DO. ANY ONE WITH ANY SENSE WOULD HAVE KNOW WHAT TO DO BUT NOT THE MAYOR AND GOVERNOR. THEY ARE THE ONES TO BLAME. BILL CLINTON, I DON'T THINK SO.
JFK was dead
JFK was dead by the Vietnam War.
JFK and the Vietnam War
In actual fact, JFK must be held accountable for initiating US involvement in the Vietnam War. As early as April 1961, he established a Vietnam Task Force and authorized a plan to send 400 U.S. Special Forces (U.S. counterinsurgency ground troops) to the Republic of Vietnam. In so doing, he recognized that his action "will probably require the circumvention of the Geneva Accords." Subsequently, in August 1963, Kennedy agreed to the removal of South Vietnamese President Diem. Both Diem and his brother were assassinated in November 1963. The Kennedy Administration was not willing to inform the American public about the true nature of U.S. involvement in Vietnam, and as a result, according to one recent historical account, "found itself bogged down in a quagmire of vicious lies." By the time of his assassination, JFK has committed over 16,000 troops to Vietnam. Therefore, when General Westmoreland took command in Vietnam in June 1964 after the Gulf of Tonkin incident, he was not the first U.S. commander in the field in Vietnam, as is popularly believed. He was, in fact, replacing General Paul Harkins, who up to that time had been the overall commander of U.S. Forces in Vietnam. These are the facts. They can be verified by reading the historical records of this period.
Most people who use Bush as
Most people who use Bush as a scapegoat for every single problem in the United States do not understand what little control over those dynamics the President actually has. Bush's only mistake is getting involved in a necessary war (a war for oil) that did not produce any clear results.
Most People who use Bush as a Loser, they're right
Alan Hsaio, live with it. Bush had a chance to help Katrina. So did Cheney. Ignored it. Period.
Global warming, avoided. He could have told people to save energy, conserve. Nah, the Iraqi War is more important. NOT! Global warming is a global threat, the Iraqi War isn't as dangerous to the world.
FINAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Live with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Global Warming is a global threat!!!!!!????????????????????
What the hell are you talking about? The Earth has been getting warmer and colder for millions of years. Global warming? Al Gore is getting "green" a.k.a money from this "going green" bullshit.
Yah I guess when the experts say if global warming is real, it's real. This year in Chicago they said it was supposed to be in the 100's and sunny with 100 percent humidity! It was average temperature all summer long!!!! The nights are in the 60's and 50's now!! It's SUMMER!!!!! 5 years ago at this time the nights were in the high 70's and humid as hell!!!
About the war, if you don't think it's right to kill terrorists. Go fight with your friends, a.k.a Al-Zarqawi, Bin Laden cause we don't want you here asshole. Bush wasn't right on Iraq!!!!????? He was harboring terrorists all day!! Saddam Hussein was a mastermind in that region. He aided alllll day long. Al-Queda not in Iraq? Al-Queda had control of north-eastern Iraq before we went in there. Do you not feel happy for the Iraqi people that can go to the swimming pool and go to nightclubs without being fucking shot? Women can show skin without being raped!!! Children can run around and say what they want without being murdered and fucked!!! THEY HAVE A DEMOCRACY!!!! IF you know what that means. Go vote for your little isolationist, pussy willow, Obama.
Sorry. George W. Bush is amazing. So, you don't think it's right for a president to lead us through a time of war!!!??? A time when the economy got bad because of 9/11? I would like to see YOU do that. For once, don't listen to skeptics and democrats, a.k.a. assholes, donkey bitches, terro....nevermind. You already made up your mind. Why bother
All republicans are evil,
All republicans are evil, they only bring war and depression, they preach about a false patriotism, the're hypocrats, they lie and brain wash the mases.
JF Kennedy was the best
the best would've been Booby Kennedy, but he was murdered because he was for the people not for the goverment.
patriotism is no to serve a government, but the people
and liberals want a utopia
and liberals want a utopia that could never possibly exist
at least conservatives are realistic and deal with the issues of today
Remember Lincoln
I am an Independant, but, remember Lincoln? #1? Republican? Well, Repbulicans back then are the Democrats of today.
